Teleport tackles agentic trust with new Agentic Identity Framework

Teleport has announced the launch of its new Agentic Identity Framework that defines policies, practices, developer tools, and a reference architecture for securely deploying agents in production.

According to the company, agentic AI introduces new security challenges, as they invoke tools, access sensitive data, delegate tasks, and operate across environments at scale, all without human involvement.

Teleport says our current identity, access, and security models weren’t designed for non-deterministic systems, and current attempts at deploying agentic systems have led to identity fragmentation, secrets sprawl, limited visibility, and systemic risk.

The Agentic Identity Framework attempts to solve these issues by establishing an identity layer that is secured cryptographically with a hardware root of trust. It enables zero trust authentication, zero standing privileges, and real-time visibility into identity behavior.

“A unified identity layer is a prerequisite to deploying AI within enterprise infrastructure environments,” said Ev Kontsevoy, co-founder and CEO of Teleport. “Deploying AI on top of fragmented credentials and identity silos is a recipe for secrets and data leakage.”

It gives each agent a strong identity and enforces least-privileged access to services, databases, and infrastructure, all while maintaining audit trails of agent actions.

The framework also offers tools to govern MCP access to enable more visibility and reduce shadow deployments.

Other features include enforcement of rate limits, budgets, and model routing; prompt/response tracking; discovery of unmanaged agents; detection of compromised or policy-violating agents; and agent orchestration on Kubernetes and Temporal with repeatable patterns.

It runs on bare metal, Google Cloud, AWS, or Microsoft Azure, and the company also offers integrations with a number of different third-party vendors, including Snowflake, gRPC, Grafana, PostgreSQL, SSH, Ubuntu, MongoDB, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Jupyterhub, Redis, and Elasticsearch.
