Ably Releases New Python SDK to Enable Realtime Functionality

LONDON — July 11, 2023 —  Ably , a Realtime Experience Infrastructure provider, today announced the release of a new Python Realtime SDK component that enables developers to integrate realtime functionality into their Python-based services, such as channel subscription and authentication via tokens. Many developers today build server-based applications with Python, using REST functionality to publish data. While other languages may be better suited for client applications, there are scenarios where having a Python-based realtime capability can be advantageous, such as when two backend services need to exchange data before delivering it to an end-user application. While the existing Python SDK supports publishing to Ably channels, the new Python Realtime SDK allows developers to subscribe to realtime data through a persistent WebSocket connection with Ably. Developers can subscribe to channels, authenticate via tokens, and secure connections to ensure reliable data delivery, eliminatin

The company also announced updates to planner, which is “a function that takes a user’s ask and returns back a plan on how to accomplish the request… For example, if you had task and calendar event plugins, planner could combine them to create workflows like “remind me to b

AWS announces Clickstream Analytics for mobile and web applications

With Clickstream Analytics, users can deploy an end-to-end solution on their AWS accounts that can capture, ingest, store, analyze, and visualize their customers’ clickstreams from their web and mobile applications. A clickstream is the path through clicking on hyperlinks that any particular user goes through when visiting a website or app.  Because this data can now be tracked in AWS,  organizations can keep their data within the security and compliance boundary of their AWS account. This offers them the opportunity to customize the processing while also providing analytics flexibility and assists businesses in maximizing the value extraction for their operations. Business owners can combine clickstream analytics data with their existing business system data for insightful revelations. By storing clickstream analysis data in their AWS accounts, businesses can cross-reference this data with their current business system data, an operation that might prove complex when using third-par

SD Times Open-Source Project of the Week: GPT Migrate

GPT Migrate enables developers to Easily migrate their codebase from one framework or language to another. GPT-Migrate employs sophisticated natural language processing methods to examine your code and produce code in the desired framework or language that achieves the same functionality. Whether a user intends to transition from React to Vue, Python to Ruby, or C# to Java, GPT-Migrate is capable of managing the conversion effortlessly. Users need to have Docker installed and running and need GPT-4 model, preferably GPT-4-32k. GPT-Migrate first creates a Docker environment for ‘–targetlang’, which is either passed in or assessed automatically by GPT-Migrate. The tool then evaluates existing code recursively to identify 3rd-party ‘–sourcelang’ dependencies and selects corresponding ‘–targetlang’ dependencies. The tool then utilizes various contextual elements such as logs, error messages, file information, and directory structure to make decisions. Its operations involve choosing an

AWS announces three major updates to Application Migration Service

AWS has announced a few major updates to its Application Migration Service, which helps simplify and expedite the process of migrating applications to AWS.  One of the new updates is Global View, which allows admins to manage migrations across multiple different accounts. It uses AWS Organizations to create management accounts, which can access servers from multiple accounts, and member accounts, which can only access their own source servers.  Global View can be used to accomplish several tasks related to migration, such as launching test and cutover instances across accounts and monitoring migration execution progress across accounts.  The next major update is the ability to import and export from a local disk. Source server inventory lists can be uploaded from a CSV on the local disk, and the lists can also be exported to a CSV file too. And finally, AWS has added four new post-launch actions. These include Configure Time Sync, which allows you to set the time for a Linux instan
