3 Best Programming Languages for Cyber Security Neeraj Mishra The Crazy Programmer

Coding is required in nearly every technology field, and cybersecurity is no different. To accurately assess the activities of dangerous actors on their networks, cybersecurity experts must comprehend a variety of coding principles. While coding abilities aren’t required for every cybersecurity profession, it’s difficult to conceive a cybersecurity career that wouldn’t profit from the ability to scribble a few lines of code now and again. Why is Learning Programming Necessary for Cybersecurity? Simply said, it improves your performance at work. Understanding programming aids cyber security specialists in examining software to find security flaws, detect malicious code, and carry out activities that need analytical capabilities. Your area of interest determines the coding language you should learn, including computer forensics, web application security, information security, malware analysis, or application security. Though the value of any one language varies by position, cyber

Hasura launches GraphQL Joins

GraphQL company Hasura has announced a new capability that will let developers join data from different GraphQL services. This new GraphQL Joins feature can be used to create a unified GraphQL API.  According to the company, this feature builds on Hasura’s existing data federation capabilities. It also gives them the ability to mix and match data sources, which will reduce development time, security risks, and ongoing maintenance costs.  Hasura explained that it’s important that developers have the ability to compose data from different sources. Even though data is coming from different places, usually it is semantically related. Previously, building relationships between this related data has required custom code where multiple APIs call each of the sources. GraphQL Joins provides a single schema that lets developers query, mutate, or federate data without having to write custom code.  GraphQL Joins is best suited for developers who have more than one GraphQL API, existing investm

Data Profiler: Capital One’s open-source machine learning technology for data monitoring

With the move to the cloud, the amount of data that companies are able to manage has grown exponentially. This is why Capital One created Data Profiler , the open-source Python library that utilizes machine learning in order to help users monitor big data and detect information that should be properly protected.   Data Profiler brings users a pre-trained deep learning model to ensure efficient identification of sensitive information, components to conduct statistical analysis of the dataset, as well as an API to build data labelers. “In the future, we’re going to be seeing more synthetic data generation – it’s a crucial component of the model development process for explainability and training. So, we needed a way to understand the data we were working with and to do that we needed to do in-depth analysis of those datasets,” said Jeremy Goodsitt, a lead machine learning engineer at Capital One, “We ended up building out the Data Profiler and even extending on top of that… which

The changing economics of open source

The past several months has seen an unusually high level of commotion in the open source community, largely focused on the economics of who — and how we — should pay for ‘free’ software. But this isn’t just some geeky flame war, what’s at stake here is business critical for vast swathes of the business world. So what’s all the fuss about? To get a handle on this, it helps to consider what open source means today. In its earliest days, the open-source movement was all about creating alternatives to large software packages. And there were some outstanding successes which enabled large groups of people to participate: I started my first web company in the mid 90s with almost no capital, based largely on the availability of the Linux operating system, Apache web server, and PHP programming language. Open source’s early promise The early days were also characterized by some fine ideals about what it meant to be open source: that anyone could and would review the codebase to identify

Report: Percentage of Oracle JDK distributions in Java ecosystem drops significantly

Oracle may be the stewards of the Java programming language, but their market share in Java Development Kit (JDK) distributions has significantly dropped over the past two years. This is according to New Relic’s 2022 State of the Java Ecosystem report , which draws data from applications reporting to New Relic.  According to the survey, Oracle is responsible for 34.48% of the JDK distributions that are currently in use today. Back in 2020, Oracle had roughly 75% of the share of the market, so this is a big change. As Oracle’s market share has gone down, Amazon’s has gone up. In 2020, only 2.18% of the JDK distributions were provided by Amazon, but now they provide 22.04% of JDK distributions.  “The real interesting item is the rise of Amazon as a major provider and I would speculate that this is related to the use of containers,” Steve Poole, developer advocate at Sonatype, told SD Times. “When choosing any software for production the need for support is a major influence. Keeping
